HBR's 2006 REALTOR® of the Year

The Honolulu Board of REALTORS® honored Wendell M.Y. Wong as the 2006 REALTOR® of the Year at its Holiday General Membership Meeting held today at the Hilton Hawaiian Village.

The REALTOR® of the Year Award annually honors one special REALTOR® who has significantly contributed to the advancement of the real estate profession, as well as the community-at-large. The blue-ribbon REALTOR® of the Year Committee selects the honoree on the basis of REALTOR® spirit, faithfulness to the HBR REALTOR® Code of Ethics, civic activity, business accomplishments, and local, state, and national REALTOR® participation.

Wong, a broker with Realty Pacific, Ltd., has been an HBR member for more than 15 years and holds several REALTOR® designations, including Certified Residential Specialist (CRS) and Graduate REALTOR® Institute (GRI). He has been an active member of the Board of Directors, serving on several committees, since 1998. In addition to his work with HBR, Wong is also involved with the Hawaii Association of REALTORS® and the Hawaii Aloha Chapter of CRS, and has received these organizations' top honors as well. On the National level, Wong currently serves as a board member for the National Council of Residential Specialists and sits on the Nomination, Education and Strategic Planning Committees. Aside from his activities with the various professional organizations, Wong dedicates time to charitable causes. He commits volunteer time to the Alzheimer's Association Aloha Chapter and St. Louis High School.

The Honolulu Board of REALTORS® is celebrating its 84th year of service to Oahu and is one of the largest of 1,500 boards of REALTORS® in the nation. 2006 REALTOR® of the Year Ceremony at the Honolulu City Council
On Wednesday, January 24, a special recognition ceremony was organized by Councilmember Charles Djou for honoring Wendell M.Y. Wong as the HBR 2006 REALTOR® of the Year, and was presented at the Honolulu City Council Chambers. In addition to the Councilmembers and Wendell M.Y. Wong, in attendence were HBR President Berton Hamamoto; HBR Chief Executive Officer Rochelle Lee Gregson; HBR City Affairs Committee Chair Joe Paikai; Realty Pacific, Ltd. Principal Broker Keith DeLong; and Louie Wong.
